Home to more than 4,000 rare and endangered animals representing more than 800 species and subspecies, the San Diego Zoo is a world famous conservation organization where visitors view exotic animals in habitat environments. Zoo guests may view rare giant pandas, cuddly looking koalas, reptiles of various shapes and sizes and many more interesting species.
For a sneak peak inside the San Diego Zoo grounds, go to Google Street View to click, zoom and spin your way around all of the public streets, alleys and walkways inside the park.

See the giant pandas; swinging orangutans and siamangs in the Absolutely Apes exhibit; and the elaborate Monkey Trails habitat, which hosts some of the world’s most exotic and endangered wildlife.
The Children’s Zoo, included in the admission price, features more than 30 special animal exhibits and activities designed with the younger visitor in mind.
Located at the Beckman Center at the Safari Park in Escondido, the Zoo's main library houses most of the Zoo's books and print journals, and serves staff throughout the San Diego Zoo Global organization. The library also maintains a website that is open to the public. The Library Portal features a book and journal catalog, links to the web's best animal, plant and conservation information, a Zoo/Park historical timeline, research quality animal fact sheets, archives of "The Latest Zoo & Conservation News,” and more.
