San Diego Automotive Museum

A nostalgic look at the icon of the 20th-century features more than 80 historic autos and motorcycles. Includes Frank Sinatra’s 1967 Austin Petrol Hire Car and Louie Mattar’s Fabulous $75,000 Car. Special exhibitions every two or three months display other fine vehicles and famous autos.

The library at the San Diego Automotive Museum is dedicated to preserving vehicle history, literature, and information for car enthusiasts. The library has an estimated 3,400 books about cars, trucks, and other vehicles; 2,500 repair manuals for do-it-yourself mechanics; 115 different magazine titles dating back to 1901, for a total of 10,000 magazines; 15,000 car club magazines and newsletters; 43 current magazines, most of them are monthly; and thousands of new car dealer brochures, dating 1908 to current.
Hours: Open Mon.-Fri, 10am-5pm, with volunteers to assist visitors.
