San Diego Air & Space Museum

Science, space and aviation history all unfold at the San Diego Air & Space Museum - California’s Official Air and Space Museum. An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the Museum houses a collection of historic aircraft and spacecraft from all over the world, including a working flying replica of Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, the actual Apollo 9 Command Module spacecraft and the only real GPS satellite on display in the world. The Museum also offers interactive exhibits including MaxFlight® and Space Shuttle simulators plus dynamic, hands-on and ever-changing traveling exhibitions.

Family Days on the second Saturday of each month features activities, take-home projects, and hands on learning about favorite topics for adults and kids to explore together. Fun for the whole family. Programs last 45 minutes and take place at 12;30, 1:30, and 2:30pm

NEW! Kid's Aviation Action Hanger (KAAH) is fun for all ages. Pre-schooler enjoy toys, education coloring books, and pedal-planes to whisk them around a kid-sized ariport. School-age youngsters thrill to "U-FLy-It" flight simulator in a real wind tunnel atmosphere or romping on the moon's surface in space suits. All ages will have fun creating parachutes and photo ops inside a large F-104 Starfighter cockpit.

SDASM's Library & Archives serves as a repository for several types of historical and contemporary publications and records related to aviation and space history, and including technical specifications of aircraft. It houses one of the largest collections of air and space-related books and archival materials in the country. Holdings include: Books, manuscripts, images, technical drawings, special collections, log books, albums, films, videos, sound recordings and biographical files.
