A MacArthur Fellow and Living Treasure of California, Sam Maloof is self-taught and one of only a few design craftsmen who make their living working with their hands.

His signature object, the Maloof Rocker, is part of the White House collection of American furniture and the first work there by a living artist. Maloof furniture is found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and others.
