Santa Lucia Procession

As part of the long-standing tradition of Balboa Park December Nights and Christmas on the Prado the holiday traditions of Sweden are brought to the Museum of Man courtesy of the Swedish Women's Educational Association.

The Santa Lucia Procession continues to be one of the largest draws of the Park-wide event. Performances are scheduled for 6:00 and 8:00 each evening. The 'Lucia Queen' leads the processions - mostly consisting of a group of young girls and boys singing traditional carols. Lucia Day symbolically opens the Christmas celebrations in Scandinavia, bringing hope and light during the darkest months of the year.

Wonderful Swedish foods, including genuine Swedish meatballs, open-faced sandwiches, rosettes served with fresh whipped cream and preserves, and the popular hot, spiced Swedish Christmas wine called glögg will be available.
