Redesigned San Diego History Center website launches

This week, we launched the new website for the San Diego History Center. The oh-so-Drupal-savvy Linda West did the bulk of the redesign work, creating about 4,700 nodes and transferring thousands of photographs.

Linda said that the biggest challenge was the sheer size of the SDHC website. “The Journal of San Diego History archive goes back to 1955 and includes complete articles, book reviews, and photographs. Entire books are in the document collections."

As she worked, Linda said that she discovered amazing collections that she hadn’t seen before, including the postcard collections for the 1915 Exposition and the Journal archive. “It's an amazing historical resource, both for the actual contents as well as the changing style of the Journal over time.”
