As a project of the Benbough Operating Foundation, BPOC has received three years of funding for its staffing and a number of infrastructure projects. BPOC's progress has garnered national attention and support: in 2010, BPOC was awarded a two-year IMLS National Leadership Grant to develop the Balboa Park Commons. Other funds have come from local private foundations for specific projects to enhance the visitor experience through technology.
